Chapter 26: Finish Him!

Last trip to China!  Can I say that?  I suppose I can.  I know there’s still lots of treasure I didn’t get and tombs I never visited, but I’m getting kindof bored with the World Adventures.  Without aging, it’s also doubling the number of posts I write without really advancing the legacy’s timeline.  So I’m going to take a break from them for a bit.

The Final Showdown

The Final Showdown

Vacation 10 – Day 1:

Tristan’s SO close to finishing his LTW, he’s only got to explore 3 Chinese tombs yet.  My problem is figuring out which ones he’s done and getting the right quest to unlock new tombs.  Fortunately he gets a new one so he’s off to explore the Tomb of the First Emperor for somebody’s grandfather.

Only two people were Kung-Fu fighting.

Only two people were Kung-Fu fighting.

I think Virgil’s getting close too, he’s at level 4 of the Martial Arts tournament.  I had the brilliant idea of inviting everyone he knew over to one of the townie’s house so everyone’d be in one place.  Odds are Virgil already knows the people he has to fight so it was a great time saver!

Serefina working on her sparring.

Serefina working on her sparring.

Serefina’s got a chance to spend some time working on her martial arts.  More importantly, she spotted another hunky member of the floaty-hearts club named Bo Min, but he’s already married. So he’s disqualified.

Wait, why is Dan Dan Pei a woman now?

Wait, why is Dan Dan Pei a woman now?

Niobe is spending every available moment exploring the Masoleum to try and find some Gnomes, but she always comes back empty-handed.  I think the building’s broken. 😦

Day 2:

His kicks are a little bit frightening.

His kicks are a little bit frightening.

Huzzah, huzzah!  Virgil has completed his LTW!  After 20 tournament wins (14 losses), he is the Grand Master Champion!  What a mission, because he started back in Chapter 8.  Now he can spend the remainder of his life with his family and fishing.  Oh, and Virgil has to defeat Dong Huo.

“Hey, where’s the house?”

“Hey, where’s the house?”

Glitch time: I bought a house.  Well, I bought an empty lot.  I did it for easy wish points, and it only cost §1,000.  The glitch is the game wouldn’t let me enter build/buy mode!  So… yeah.  Enjoy your expensive patch of grass!

Prometheus and his holiday fling.

Prometheus and his holiday fling.

Prometheus meets the irresistible Yu Xian Hua-Louie and they make out, as teenagers are so prone to do. Even though Dara Dent is far away in another country, Prometheus somehow winds up earning the naughty reputation.  Bad boy!

"Bebe is cheating on someone with somebody else."

“Bebe is cheating on someone with somebody else.”

Cascadia finished her LTW a long time ago, so she’s free to do whatever.  She spends her time hiking through the forest and finding gems.  Oh, and she gets the random wish to tell Wang about Bebe’s “other relationship”.  I say random because Wang isn’t connected to Bebe at all, so why would he even care?

Oh, and cousin Ze Lei Shin Yi-Wolfe is the one dating Bebe Hua.  So if they get married she’ll be Bebe Hua-Yi-Wolfe..?

Day 3:

Oh REAL mature, Serefina!

Oh REAL mature, Serefina!

Serefina gets floaty hearts for so many guys I’m losing track!  She even thinks the elderly special merchant is attractive too, because she got this wish:

Serefina wants to kiss Lee for the first time.

I’ve sent Virgil and Cascadia to help Tristan finish the Temple of the Dragon tomb.  He had only a few hours before the end of the trip and I really wanted to get his LTW done just in case… well, you never know how long elderly Sims live. Unfortunately, Tristan met up with a mummy, got the floaty-hearts thing, then he got his ass kicked.  How rude!

You do not want to mess with Virgil.

You do not want to mess with Virgil.

I was lucky because they found the Scourge of the Three Kingdoms himself: Dong Huo! I was trying to get him to fight Virgil but he kept chasing after Tristan and Cascadia. I had to make them run to the far corners of the room and have Virgil stand in the middle waiting, it was so ridiculous. Eventually the evil was vanquished, the world is now safer, etc.

“Yippee-ki-yay, melon farmer!”

“Yippee-ki-yay, melon farmer!”

Huzzah again!  Tristan finishes off his LTW too; now he’s the Great Explorer that he’s always wanted to be.  I gave him this LTW back in Chapter 10, but it feels like he’s been working on it as long as Virgil.

Tristan Wolfe just became a Great Explorer.

Bye bye China! As I said I’m taking a vacation from vacations (I can’t believe I just wrote that..).  Tune into the next post because we’ll be losing two members of the legacy house, so that’s kindof sad.

Chapter 25: Souriez-Moi, Milord

Hello all.  My dad has been in the hospital this past week, for several unrelated but serious problems. It’s been very stressful worrying about him.  In some ways he is fortunate because of all the tests they were able to catch these problems early on, but now that he’s home he’s a lot happier.  I’m hoping he’ll take this as an early warning sign and start seriously thinking about retirement, or at least cutting back on work.

Anywhoo, let’s see check in on the Wolfe family did this week:

Week 15 – Day 105:

Should I explain the Ambitions careers?  It might be confusing otherwise.  Progress in each career depends on 3 factors.  In Serefina’s case, she has to build Athletic/Handiness skill, socialize with co-workers, and respond to emergencies.  So I sent her to hang out at the firestation on the weekend to meet some of her new colleagues: Harmony Ivy, Rufus Cooley, and Korey Jenkins.

Oh no, another competitor for Serefina’s heart!

Oh no, another competitor for Serefina’s heart!

Through exercise, she got promoted up to Soot Stripper, which sounds dirtier than it is.  Oh, and she has to keep fixing the fire alarm/fire truck or else she can’t go on missions.

Uh oh, floating hearts thingy!  That’s not good..

Uh oh, floating hearts thingy!  That’s not good..

For Niobe, she has to work on Logic skill, trap spirits, and do paranormal investigations.  Just by playing chess she gets promoted to Ectoplasm Cleaner.

Week 16 – Day 106:

Virgil’s 77 and Serefina has 19 days left.

It’s Cascadia’s big wedding day to Pascal.  I bought new chairs because I heard that Sims will use them during a ceremony.  Prometheus wanted to ensure the wedding was exciting, so he detonated some trash in the backyard.

Nothing says "wedding day" like the smell of burning garbage.

Nothing says “wedding day” like the smell of burning garbage.

For some insane reason, the game tried to give Cascadia 32 days off for getting married.  Why on earth would she need 5 weeks for a honeymoon?

“Hu hu!  I do!”

“Hu hu!  I do!”

Oh, so cute! I don't know why I'm shipping so much for them.

Oh, so cute! I don’t know why I’m shipping so much for them.

So what’s the story on Pascel Morel?  He comes with a Green Thumb, Workaholic, Unlucky, Light Sleeper, and Virtuoso.  His LTW was finished right away because he had the Nectar Cellar. Just like Cascadia! Oh, so sweet, they have matching LTWs!  I have no idea what to do with him so I put him in the Gardener career.

At first I was planning on them having a kid who would grow up in the legacy house (a cousin for the Ambitionists), but Spare-Spouses and Spare-Children can’t actually contribute legacy points. So scratch that, they’re moving out! .. Eventually.

This is about the time that I realize that there are 8 Sims living on the lot.  Again. Not 4, not 5, but 8.

I've made a huge mistake.

Virgil’s given a rather dangerous mission: he needs to sneak into City Hall and steal the Golden Llama from the mayor’s desk, avoiding guard dogs and laser spies.  This job pays out §8,000 which is pretty awesome.  Also I’ve been thinking of having Virgil retire but he’s earning §1,000 an hour at work, plus whatever artwork he brings home.

Oh, and Joe’s terrible ex-wife Stephanie Loera-Steel died.  Myahahaha! (She will not be missed.)

Day 107:

Wow, Gardener career is easy!  I sold like 25 bags of Money Tree and Pascal got promoted right away. Now he’s a Seed Sewer (level 7). I also thought Pascal would be able to revive my insane garden of barren plants, but apparently he can only revive dead plants. *sigh*

Squee!! Cascel or Pascadia?

Squee!! Cascel or Pascadia?

(Disregarding promotions), Today is the first day of Serefina’s and Niobe’s new careers.  The Ambitions jobs are better than the rabbit-holes because you get to see what’s going on, but they’re worse because there seem to be a lot of unresolved glitches.

For instance, Sere’s first firefighting mission broke immediately and she didn’t get any work all day.  Despite that, Sere gets promoted up to Fire Instructor. Also Niobe got to hunt some ghosts so now she’s a Spooky Noise Silencer.

Tristan apparently has been going to work shoeless, which is inexplicable.

Tristan apparently has been going to work shoeless, which is inexplicable.

Tristan’s journalism career has hit a rough patch. I hate the Lost-Friend moodlets he gets every time he writes a bad story on someone, so he retires.  It gives him a chance to continue writing that epic masterpiece of his. Man, this thing takes forever!

Prometheus is still working on his inventions.

Prometheus is still working on his inventions.

Day 108:

As I mentioned last time, I lost all of the neighbourhood addresses because I deleted the cache during a vacation.  I forgot to mention that it also reset some of the neighbours faces, hair, and skintones. I know Brie Ross was definitely affected, and also Zachery Ross.  I’m not 100% sure if things are back to normal or still wonky.

Zachery Ross, 2.0.

Zachery Ross, 2.0.

Anyways, it seems that Niobe and Zachery are hitting it off rather well, despite his unexpected face transplant and change of skintone.  It’s weird because normally Niobe hates everyone!

Autobots, let’s transform and roll out!

Autobots, let’s transform and roll out!

Serefina got her very first (or second) firefighting quest.  Man is the firetruck slow!!  I watched a concerned townie nearly outrun the unwieldy behemoth that is the city’s emergency response vehicle.  For her efforts she got the Firefighter of the Year award (it’s like an axe).

Serefina's promoted to Hose Handler. *titter*

Serefina’s promoted to Hose Handler. *titter*

Pascal also got a Hero Trophy for Gardening, which looks like a shield. You know, because selling bags of money requires a lot of heroism.  Also Joe’s got another grandchild, Seneca King-Tanner.  His family tree is huge, BTW.  They’re already like in their fifth generation.

Day 109:

Serefina gets promoted up to Firewoman.

Serefina gets promoted up to Firewoman.

I bought the Sunwest Graveyard and spent some time building on it, but then the game crashed.  Arrrg! And why does it need 2 Masoleums anywho?

Keri's a house-ghost.

Keri’s a house-ghost.

Have I mentioned that Keri’s ghost has been living in the house for several days?  Normally ghosts are gone in the morning, but she has been wandering around, sleeping in beds and playing with the Gnubb set.  I wouldn’t mind so much but she keeps making food!  The fridge is overflowing with leftovers but she won’t stop cooking hotdogs! Stop it Keri, nobody even likes hot dogs!

Beware of haunted appliances.

Beware of haunted appliances.

Speaking of ghosts, Niobe earned the Spooky Trophy.  Not that a punk-rock anarchist like Niobe would even care what The Man or The Establishment has to say about her.  She plays by her own rules! Unfortunately, her crush Zachery is now dating Jena Vasquez-Claremont.  That sneaky face-swapping manwhore!

You light one little stick of dynamite, and everything explodes!

You light one little stick of dynamite, and everything explodes!

Prometheus went to the scrapyard and detonated everything.  The explosion was a lot bigger than I expected, I think he nearly killed some of the townies.

Cascadia helping with the gardening.

Cascadia helping with the gardening.

Joe finishes his Cheese quest so now he can plant burgers and steaks.  Good for him!

Day 110:

“Yes!! Somebody's home is burning!”

“Yes!! Somebody’s home is burning!”

Serefina gets promoted up to Fire Sergeant.  Also Pascal gets promoted up to Progeny of the Harvest. Is that the right word, maybe it’s supposed to be Prodigy instead of Progeny.

After work Niobe gets promoted up to Séance Holder (level 5) and wins the Spirit Medal.  She has spirit, yes she does!  She also has no problem stealing Zachery back, and tells him to dump Jena.

I sent Tristan to the match-maker, but nobody gets a score better than 0.  Is Tristan the last gay guy in town?

“We gotta stand perfectly still.”

“We gotta stand perfectly still.”

Joe wants to have another child out-of-wedlock, and Carey is illegible, so he starts dating Rosalyn Lancaster-Tanner.

Day 111:

Abracadabra!, the magical laundry gnome.

Abracadabra!, the magical laundry gnome.

Tristan found a Magical Laundry Gnome.  To me it looks kindof like the Pedobear:

The Pedobear.

This darned alarm is eternally broken.

This darned alarm is eternally broken.

I am finding it impossible to keep the alarms at the firestation in good maintenance.  As soon as it’s repaired it breaks again, then I miss out on quests.  So I sent Tristan to try and help Serefina keep things working.  Also Sere gets promoted to Fire Captain (level 7).

“Take that, the moon!”

“Take that, the moon!”

Speaking of glitches, Niobe can no longer do the Poltergeist missions.  At first the haunted objects kept resetting her, but now the game doesn’t even generate the poltergeists.  Ugh, I am not enjoying this career as much as I thought I would.

Joe and Rosalyn get lucky inside that random wooden sarcophagus that Niobe carved, and I’m pretty sure I heard bells a ringing.

Day 112:

Keri likes to watch, apparently.

Keri likes to watch, apparently.

Prometheus gets his very first kiss with the infamous Dara Dent.  The attraction system says he doesn’t like her, but they look so cute together so what the hell!

Prometheus mugging for the camera.

Prometheus mugging for the camera.

I sent everybody over to the Amateur Olympics, and 4 people won.  That’s §8000 for almost no work.  I just can’t help but marvel at so much free money!

Let’s send the family back to China and see if Virgil and Tristan can finish their LTW.

Chapter 23: The Monarch is Crowned

The search for the Generation 3 Heir is over!  Each of the candidates ran a wonderful race, but sadly there can be only one.  Winning by a landslide is …. *drumroll* …. Serefina Wolfe!

Generation 3 Heir poll.  Serena Wolfe.

I will try to update the banner either this week or the next week.  Wow, I took 71 pictures this week.  I’ve tried to narrow it down to only the most heart-warming or funniest shots.  There’s a lot going on this week including unexpected deaths, a surprise engagement, and one maiming.  So let’s get to it!

Week 14 – Day 98

Some clumsy dock-worker knocked over a skid of puzzles with a pump-truck, and they want Virgil to put them all back together.  I adore jiggsaw puzzles, so I find myself completely jealous of Virgil right now..

Prometheus grew up into a teenager.

Prometheus grew up into a teenager.

Cascadia earned her last promotion to Five-Star Chef!  And with it the coveted MinusOne Kelvin Refrigerator!  Now food will stay fresh forever, which is pretty good because there are some really old veggies which have been in there for a LONG time.  Tristan also invested in the Area 51 building.

Week 15 – Day 99:

Virgil has 2 days left, Serefina has have 5 days left, and Prometheus has 13 days left.

Joe using a vacuum cleaner on the garden.

Joe using a vacuum cleaner on the garden.

The school is cutting back on their full-time Logic Staff, so Keri has to teach a course about it at the school.

“MOM!!! I’m trying to invent right now! SAWD!!”

“MOM!!! I’m trying to invent right now! SAWD!!”

Prometheus registers himself as a Self-Employed Inventor.  He got up to level 6 which made me really excited to start detonating things, but apparently teenagers are too young to blow random things up.  *Grumble grumble*

“Somebody help this poor woman! She’s going into labour right in front of my bookstore!”

“Somebody help this poor woman! She’s going into labour right in front of my bookstore!”

Also Joe aged up to elder.  Nothing noteworthy happened at the party except this:

“Yum yum yum!”

“Yum yum yum!”

Day 100:

Virgil noted one of his neighbours TVs was broken so he teleported in to fix it.

He was not amused.

He was not amused.

The infamous Magnus Landgraab tried to perform a hostile takeover on a small island nation located in the Sim-lapagos islands, but Keri used her secret-agent powers to foil his dastardly plans.  Tristan finished his Best-Selling article and got §16,000!  Then he started writing “Did the Butler Actually Do It?”

Prometheus hanging out with his sisters. The Legacy House photobombed the picture.

Prometheus hanging out with his sisters. The Legacy House photobombed the picture.

“Man, some day I’m going to build a robot to be my friend! Then I won’t need either of you to hang out with me!” says Prometheus. Serefina doesn’t hear him, and Niobe pretends not to hear him. “Who’s talking? Oh I don’t know, some kid who lives in my house. I think my dad knows him or something,” Niobe says over the phone.

Oh, and since it’s day 100 I threw the “100 Days of Wolfe” party.  It was pretty epic, there was catered food and trays of nectar lying all over the place, and several birthday cakes. … Because apparently birthday cake is the only desert they sell in the grocery store.  I like having a Medical Doctor living on the lot, because he brings home a book from work that says which number day it is.

Tristan doesn’t like to be poked.

Tristan doesn’t like to be poked.

Marilyn Monroe talking to herself.

Marilyn Monroe talking to herself.

Prometheus snuck away from the party to do some inventing on the ScrapTronic Workbench.

Unfortunately, it exploded on him.

Unfortunately, it exploded on him.

The huge fire engulfed Prometheus, causing him great pain.  He stopped, dropped, and rolled to put out the blaze.  Unfortunately, his right arm was burned off completely.  Here’s a simulation:

Serefina and Keri panic as Prometheus is on fire.

Serefina and Keri panic as Prometheus is on fire.

Day 101 (lol):

"Like this, only less scary."

“Like this, only less scary.”

Fortunately, this is a video game and we have the technology; we can rebuild him!  Yaaa!!  Using only his left hand, drinking lots of coffee, and working hard through the night, Prometheus was able to construct a fully-functional prosthetic arm and attach it to his shoulder before school the next day.  It’s shiny, it’s got gears and everything! It might even be stronger than his old arm.

Prometheus gets a robot arm.

Prometheus gets a robot arm.

Joe performs another Neighbourhood Free Clinic in the park, and he loses job performance again because of all the extra sims who show up.  I don’t know what’s more ridiculous: the fact that EAxis never thought to fix this in one of their updates, or my continued optimism that somehow treating 5 of 5 patients will negate the remaining 15.

I had the “cool” idea of having the twins, Virgil and Tristan, each giving eachother matching tattoos.  Little did I know that Tattoo is actually a hidden skill, and Sims need to practice before getting good.  So this happened:

Screenshot-724 Screenshot-723

Terrible.  Just terrible. ugh, just look at it!  Dammit Tristan! Also Virgil needs to upgrade a stereo for Terry Diwan-Gilbert.  Oh, this isn’t Tanner’s ex-wife but another Terry.

Pascal and Cascadia continue their long-distance relationship.

Pascal and Cascadia continue their long-distance relationship.

Day 102:

According to somebody’s Wish menu, the legacy lot has broken the §2,000,000 marker.  Frankly, this makes no sense to me because the Net Worth is still a good chunk away from §500,000.  I wonder if it’s counting all the money earned and ignoring all the money spent..? Keri stole another pair of cars, and Joe finished his hospital debt mission to earn §3,500.

Family photo!

Family photo!

At the age of 93, Keri retired from Police Work and started her new career as an Architect.  No seriously, I had something for this:  with so many Sims around town complaining about not being able to live in the same house as their wife or husband, Keri would renovate and add more beds to each house!  Then put a crib in a cheaper house so that Cascadia and Pascal can have a baby together.

“No more Yetis!” “Down with snow-apes!”

“No more Yetis!” “Down with snow-apes!”

But then the Grim Reaper came along and is all, “No way shortie, you’re coming with me!”

“Keri Wolfe, Loved By All”.

“Keri Wolfe, Loved By All”.

8 out of 12 sims agree, Keri dying is sad.

8 out of 12 sims agree, Keri dying is sad.

It made the rest of the birthday party a downer, and it was already going to be pretty sad watching Tristan and Virgil become elders:

Tristan Wolfe as an elder. Virgil Wolfe as an elder.

Day 103:

Virgil is understandably heart-broken.  His wife is dead, his son has lost an arm, he’s older now, and his brother graffitied all over his body with indelible ink.  Also Terry died so he can’t upgrade her stereo anymore.  At least I went back and fixed Virgil’s tattoos.

Since it seemed unlikely to happen otherwise, Cascadia asked Pascal Morel to marry her!

“Guess what’s in the box?” “A toilet?”

“Guess what’s in the box?” “A toilet?”

Silas Sparks-Diwan wants Tristan to write a Hit Article for him.  Does Tristan have nothing better to do than write amazing things for random people?  He also bought stock in the Lucky Llamas Stadium.

Tristan and Tanner reunited.

Tristan and Tanner reunited.

Day 104:

Virgil needs to teach a class at the Silver Swallows Day Spa about easing stress and emptying one’s mind for §2000.  I don’t know if this is because he knows how to meditate or because he’s still in mourning.

Niobe and Serefina age up to adults:

Niobe Wolfe as an adult. Serefina Wolfe as an adult.

Niobe rolled the Mean Spirited trait (m’eh), and her LTW is Paranormal Profiteer.  She joined the Paranormal career as a Tarot Card Reader, which I’m hoping will be cool and Sci-Fi-ish.  She also got a fancy Banshee Banisher (which looks similar to the Garden-Vacuum).

Serefina rolled the Snob trait (hmm?), and her LTW is Firefighter Super Hero. She joined the Fire Fighter career as a Watergirl, which I’m hoping will be both fun and dangerous and nothing like that Adam Sandler movie. I’m also regretting having her jog as a teenager because her Athletic skill is pretty high and it could’ve been used to boost her career.  Oh, now that Serefina has come of age we can officially crown her the monarch of the Wolfe family.

“So, we don’t have to return this car to the city or something?”

“So, we don’t have to return this car to the city or something?”

I’m trying to find a good match for all the Ambitionists, but it’s not easy. err, Serefina is dating Brady, but it’s not set in stone and I’m keeping her options open.

So for the girls: Niobe’s old stalker Elijah is still a teen, and also dating someone.  Scott McDermott and Pierre Vasquez-Claremont are both single but are teens and too young.  Rocky Shaw is the right age but he’s dating someone.  (Sad, because Rocky Shaw is a cool name.)  For Prometheus: Joe’s daughter Sofia Ross is now an adult and also dating someone.  There is also Dara Dent, but she became a family enemy a while back for some obscure reason.

“Eww, why does my hand smell like onion?”

“Eww, why does my hand smell like onion?”

Cascadia’s employer wants her to go to China, learn the Stir-Fry recipe, and bring in a serving.  Yeah, that’s totally reasonable. *eyeroll*

Tanner’s ex-wife Terry (not to be confused with dead Terry) got married to Chip Lancaster-Tanner.  I guess Stewart must have died in the past few days.

Ooh, Tanner died.

Ooh, Tanner died.

Tanner Lancaster, Tristan’s long-term… boyfriend significant other love-partner (?) passed away. I guess Tristan and Tanner aren’t going to be moving in together anymore.  That’s sad, I though they would end up adopting a little girl from Vietnam.  Joe performed a triple alempodiderectomy, which is much easier than it looks.

Day 105:

Serefina bought stock in the Lakeside Retreat.  This is an upgradeable venue, so it lets me build on it to make it better and earn more profits.  I don’t quite know how to make it worth more, but I’ll figure that out later. Tristan started writing a masterpiece, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.

Virgil and Keri have one last kiss.

Virgil and Keri have one last kiss.

Hey, let’s go to France!
