Chapter 22: A Distant Cousin

Sorry for the delay in posting.  I’ve done something weird to my right shoulder on Tuesday.  I think it’s because I got a tetanus shot but my mum thinks it’s from work.  It’s not paralyzed, but it’s in a lot of pain when I move it.  Also I updated the Mods list and divided up the Rules page into expansions.

China vacation

China vacation

Vacation 8 – Day 1:

I am so confused about which Adventures have been completed and which tombs Tristan needs to explore. So I made an Excel chart (which is what I usually do to sort out things). It has lots of colours! And thick border lines! *nerds out*

Wait, how is Pascal from France on vacation in China?

Wait, how is Pascal from France on vacation in China?

Now that Tristan has the Axe of Pangu, he needs to explore the Hot Springs and find some mysterious trinket for Bao.

Virgil lost his magical key so he needs to bake another one.  And I’m sure it’s delicious!  He also beats up some of the locals in the name of Martial Arts.

“Cannonball!”

“Cannonball!”

Keri gets a new quest which involves deciphering a curious note.  Apparently Dong Huo stole a valueless worthless priceless heirloom from Ziyi Yuan and it’s up to Keri to retrieve it.

um, how to describe Serefina, Niobe and Cascadia’s vacation: Fetch, return, rinse, repeat.

“AHHHH!”

“AHHHH!”

Day 2:

Tristan scratched off 3 more tombs off his “to-mb-do list”, and Lee Kim-Yao was so happy about the broken boulder that he gave Tristan §4,000.  Lee also finishes that Meditation Statue and sends Tristan on a Pilgrim’s Walk about China.

“Oh hell.”

“Oh hell.”

Serefina’s decided it’s time to take up Martial Arts.  Strong, brave, able to break pieces of wood, this could potentially be very useful in a future career… but I’m getting ahead of myself.

Serefina learning Martial Arts just like her father.

Serefina learning Martial Arts just like her father.

Virgil lost ANOTHER car.  Seriously, this is like the third one!  TEARS!  He also sparred with many, many Sim-Fu masters.  That’s like all he really did this entire trip.

Glittery Virgil, plus Dan Dan Pei, the oldest teen in China.

Glittery Virgil, plus Dan Dan Pei, the oldest teen in China.

Keri’s note was written in the ancient code of Dong Huo, so she gets in his treasure trove and finds the missing artifact.

Cascadia found a relic with a piece missing, but collects it from Rui Xi Xio.  I also noted that there are 3 different Sims all named “Lu” living in China.  I’m sure the random name generator could come up with enough names that it doesn’t have to start repeating already.

Cascadia’s winning the “Make the Scariest Face” contest.

Cascadia’s winning the “Make the Scariest Face” contest.

Day 3:

Tristan uses Thunderbolt!

Tristan uses Thunderbolt!

Apparently Tristan is referred to in the prophecy of the one who will bring balance to the Force the Dragon Cave.  For some reason James Vaughan tried to fix the Dragon Cave sometime during the last century but then he didn’t, so Tristan has to brew a memory potion.  This helps jog the memory of Liang Wang-Yat Sen , who remembers that Sin Pah kept a journal on all of this, and now Tristan has to go find a nectar-merchant in France to get the Dragon Cave keystone.  *rereads this last paragraph*  … This is very convoluted.

The game spawns a random Sim called “Ze Lei Shin Yi-Wolfe“.  I kid you not.

They kindof look related, right?

They kindof look related, right?

I think Story Progression did it just to perplex me.  Not only does Mr. Ze have 5 names (how ridiculous!*), but apparently he’s a long-lost relative of the Wolfe family.

*Says the guy with 6 names.

I think he kindof looks like Tristan, but maybe not.  I had to do some imaginating, but here’s what I came up with:

Alexander actually had a never-before-mentioned younger brother named Herb, who stayed in Sim-ope with their parents Marjorie and Klaus.  Continuing in their free-spirited lifestyle, he eventually made his way to Shang Simla where he met his wife, Meiling Yi.  Together they formed the Yi-Wolfe household, and raised a single son, who they named Ze Lei Shin.  This makes Ze an uncle first-cousin once removed to Serefina Niobe and Prometheus, a first cousin to Virgil and Tristan, and also explains why he’s got the same hair-colour as Tristan.

(Let’s just ignore the fact that Tristan got his blonde locks from his mother’s side of the family instead of the Wolfe side, okay?)

Flying backwards summersault kick.

So Virgil got his Sparring Tournament Rank #4.  Just one more to go!  Now let us bravely flee this land of tranquil forests and return to the realm of sand and sun.

Chapter 21: Trout Bust Replica

I’m kindof surprised that only 3 people voted for the next heir because the dashboard says there’s lots of people visiting my blog.  We’re talking about double digits here:  Like, tens of people.  Maybe even twenties of people!  Right now Serefina is in the lead:

NiobeWolfe2 SerefinaWolfe2 PrometheusWolfe2

Niobe Wolfe ———— Serefina Wolfe ———— Prometheus Wolfe

Week 13 – Day 91:

Prometheus is now a child.

Prometheus is now a child.

Prometheus aged up and rolled the Family-Oriented trait.  After unpacking everything from the latest trip, Keri achieved her lifetime wish: own §20,000 in relics.  Tristan convinced Tanner to finally end his marriage to Terry, then started writing his first romance novel “He Was My Everything”.  After getting promoted to Executive Chef, Cascadia needs to infiltrate the other diner to figure out their secret recipe.

I bet they use Torgo’s, they put that s**t on everything!

I bet they use Torgo’s, they put that s**t on everything!

Week 14 – Day 92:

Virgil has 9 days left, Serefina has 12 days left, and Prometheus has 6 days left.

Keri stole another car, the Bwan Speedster, to make up for the game stealing my last stolen car.  … If that makes any sense.  Cascadia was submitting a dish for a contest and it spoiled halfway through, so it was only worth §5.

Prometheus declares his first arch-nemesis.

Prometheus declares his first arch-nemesis.

Tristan was dining out when the busboy dropped a steaming hot bowl of gazpacho in his lap, but he got a free desert out of it.

“Yummy, fire cake!”

“Yummy, fire cake!”

Joe decided to take up a second romance, the vivacious Carey Dubois.  He’s got the reputation as a Cheater, so he might as well do something to earn it!

Joe’s found a new, younger paramour.

Joe’s found a new, younger paramour.

Day 93:

The Network is threatening to close down the Sahara Corporate Headquarters unless Tristan can write a Best-Selling article by next week.  He’s already halfway through writing a book and I didn’t want to lose all that progress, so the metaphorical heat is on!

“You do not want to piss me off today.”

“You do not want to piss me off today.”

Keri was promoted to Undercover Specialist, and Niobe was promoted to Overseer of the Dead.

Tristan used scream-attack. It's super effective!

Tristan used scream-attack. It’s super effective!

I wanted to bring some drama to the simverse, so I invited the wronged parties (Terry, Stephanie, and Addison), the booty-calls (Tanner and Carey), and the cheaters (Tristan and Joe) for a party.  I thought for sure a party full of affairs and broken hearts, somebody would throw a punch, but I guess they were all too polite.

Addison: “Oh HELL naww!!” Joe: “Uh, we were just swimming?”

Addison: “Oh HELL naww!!” Joe: “Uh, we were just swimming?”

I also expected Addison Ross to die when she found out Joe was cheating, but she went home to die instead.  Strangely, Joe is not even upset even though they were dating for 60 or 70 Sim-years.  Go figure! RIP Addison, your hairstyle will live on in memory.

Day 94:

Prometheus has decided to try his hand at inventing.

Prometheus has decided to try his hand at inventing.

Cascadia was promoted to Chef de Cuisine (just one more to go!), and Keri was promoted to Special Agent.  Cascadia also made her report about the rival fast-food diner, the one that gave everybody salmonella last week.  The school wants Niobe to join the Writing Club so she’s gotta work on that later.

After the last explosion, Niobe’s taken up sculpting.

After the last explosion, Niobe’s taken up sculpting.

Joe needs to bring 20 excellent pieces of produce to the restaurant.  I didn’t realize at first but this is the Uncommonly Good opportunity that lets you grow Cheese or Eggs, so I didn’t rush to complete it right away.

“Youth is so wasted on the young.”

“Youth is so wasted on the young.”

Day 95:

Time for the bi-monthly eating contest.  Everybody except Virgil won, so that’s §7,000 free money right there.  Cascadia learned how to make the Cheesesteak recipe, she threw the book into the air, and it EXPLODED.  … Well that’s something new.

Serefina and Brady Davies, young and friendly orphan (I’m assuming).

Serefina and Brady Davies, young and friendly orphan (I’m assuming).

Serefina and her old babysitter Brady Davies have hit it off, so now they’re going steady.  Without realizing the company is going bankrupt, Niobe buys stock in the Sahara building.  As preventative measures and in reflection of the Great Llama Stampede of ’84, the military needs Joe’s expertise on treating trauma patients.

Virgil joking with ghost-mom.

Virgil joking with ghost-mom.

Day 96:

Keri was able to convince her boss for a raise and promotion, so now she’s a Triple Agent.  If she gets caught, the government will completely disavow any knowledge of her actions, which is kindof badass.

“I made a fish?  I wanted a skeleton goat head!”

“I made a fish?  I wanted a skeleton goat head!”

Cascadia gets the Uncommonly Good opportunity too, so now she can grow the dairy-based cheeseplant.  Tristan won another Simitzer Prize for his great reporting skills.

Prometheus getting a hug from his grandma.

Prometheus getting a hug from his grandma.

Terry (Tanner’s ex-wife) and Stewart Shaw (Addison’s widower) have fallen in love.  I guess it makes sense that they’d bond over their shared pain or whatever.

Day 97:

Keri was promoted to an International Super Spy, which is the top of the Law Enforcement career.  She also reported in about the star she found so the Science Lab is having a Hawaiian Lab Coat day to show their appreciation.  She also became a partner at the Stadium.  Tristan started writing “Why Changing Your Socks Could Save Your Life!”

“Well, I do de-clare, I feel like the belle of the ball!”

“Well, I do de-clare, I feel like the belle of the ball!”

Cascadia ages up to adult, so she throws herself a formal birthday party.  She had to skip work to come home, blow out the candles, and rush back.  Because she’s a very dedicated culinary artist!

She is way too excited about a stranger’s birthday.

She is way too excited about a stranger’s birthday.

Niobe got to meet Elijah Vasquez-Claremont in the spooky cemetery, because he was standing around when she got out of work.  Is this the start of a beautiful relationship or a potentially violent stalking?

Joe’s previous boss made a deal with the local mafia for a great deal of money, and now the hospital is in-debt to them.  Joe can convince Nikita Parsons (criminal) to let it go, if he first convinces Irene King-Tanner (a police-cop) to stop raiding the criminal’s hideout.  He’s also got a fifth granddaughter called Susie.

Day 98:

I keep getting NRaaS notifications about 3 sets of Sims that can’t find any homes to live in, so I added a really cheap house to the neighbourhood.  Does this satisfy the Story Progression?  Perhaps.

Apparently ghosts can zeneport.

Apparently ghosts can zeneport.

Tristan’s newest articles are called “I Like Pizza” and “Your Neighbour is a Hitman!”  I gotta remember it’s Prometheus’ birthday once they get back from…. Let’s say, China.

Chapter 20: The Wielder of the Axe

Happy belated Canada Day to you all!  I meant to post last weekend but my cousins flew in from Texas and we spent most of the day outside.  It was nice, I hadn’t seen them in over a year.  Anywho, let’s see what the Wolfes do.. done… have did this week.

China vacation.

China vacation.

Vacation 7 – Day 1:

Pretty much the whole family goes on vacation, and the twin (girls) get to go out for the first time, bringing the total up to 6 of a possible 8 Sims.  (Joe stays home to care for the wee Prometheus.)

Time for a scary laugh from Niobe.

Time for a scary laugh from Niobe.

From my notes, it looks like Keri, Cascadia, Serefina, and Niobe keep rolling the same quests over again: deliver some metal, explore that cave, find the unspawning lapis lazuli, etc.  I even tried the NRaaS respawn feature to see if anything new came up, but no.  So it’s not that I’m ignoring them this post, it’s just that they didn’t get anything very exciting. 😦

“If I stand like this does it make me look fierce?”

“If I stand like this does it make me look fierce?”

However, Tristan got a new quest: Liang Yat Sen runs a gang called the Clan of the Resolute Fist and he wants to figure out why his newest pledge has chickened out.  Tristan goes to find Bo Min, who says he’s training much better without the rest of the gang getting in the way.  He’s now harder, better, faster, stronger.  Not to mention Bo’s really big into Melodic Power Techno, which could make things complicated because the CotRF gang are all about Reformed-Jazz Shoegazing.  As you do.

Virgil gets sparring with some of the locals and gets up to Tournament Rank #2.  I think there’s a total of 5 ranks, but it’s his LTW so whatta you gonna do?

“AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!”

“AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!”

Day 2:

Liang isn’t pleased that Bo said no so he sends Tristan back to talk to him again. Bo changes his mind and decides he wants to learn about the Clan’s secret society, and now he’s back in the gang.  Does this make Tristan an accessory to organized crime?  Also I feel like they could’ve resolved this over the telephone in about 5 minutes.

Dan Dan Pei, the oldest child in China.

Dan Dan Pei, the oldest child in China.

Hooray, the enigmatic CONFOUNDED BOULDER quest appears!!!  I’ve been trying to get this one since Vacation 1 so I can unlock that darn Pangu’s Axe.  Huzzah, and such!  Bao Louie wants Tristan to convince the locals that he is worthy of possessing the mystical artifact that is able to break rocks in one swing.  Not to mention the trans-perambulation of pseudo-cosmic antimatter.

How about one from Virgil?

How about one from Virgil?

I also realized that Virgil lost his car somewhere.  I think this is the second car I’ve lost to The EAxis Automobile Repossession Squad.

Day 3:

*sigh* "He's doing that sinister Mr. Burns laugh AGAIN."

*sigh* “He’s doing that sinister Mr. Burns laugh AGAIN.”

Virgil needs to head up to the Temple of Heaven and find the Monk’s Artifact for Zhan Zhi-Su, then he needs to construct a keystone.  It involves baking, so I’m sure Virgil creates a very tasty key-lime keystone.

“Oh Casc, tell me you didn't set off the trap..?”

“Oh Casc, tell me you didn’t set off the trap..?”

Tristan learns that Pangu’s Axe was forged by the evil sorcerer Dong Huo to destroy rocks, and it’s hidden up in the Temple of Heaven.  It takes a while but with Keri and Cascadia’s help, they find it and claim it for the family.  No more “this rock is too big for you to move” nonsense!  I am super-duper happy about this.

“There can be only one!”

“There can be only one!”
