I’ve Received a Liebster Award!

Hello all. I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award!

Liebster Award - Discover new blogs!

Liebster Award – Discover new blogs!

Thank you to earthqueenami from the Kanto Legacy for nominating me. This is my first time being nominated for anything, so I’m happy to accept it!

The Rules Are:

1: Thank the person that nominated you.
2: Answer the 11 questions that the nominator asked you.
3: Nominate another 11 bloggers.
4: Pose 11 brand new questions to your nominees.

Questions from earthqueenami:

1. If you could live anywhere in the world besides where you live now, where would you choose?
I’ve always lived in Ontario, Canada, and I’ve only traveled a handful of times. The practical side of me says I should move somewhere with good healthcare, and the fun side of me says to move somewhere warm and interesting. Fitting the bill, there’s Italy, France, or maybe Portugal.

2. What is your favorite song right now? What song annoys you the most?
A. I’ve been in a musical dryspell for a couple of months now. I’ll have to choose “Dana” by Sonata Arctica because it’s such a sad song about a man writing letters to a girl he loved after she has strayed down a path of sin away from her family and loved ones.  I’m also kindof digging the “We Are What We Are” by Sonata Arctica as well, because of the flutes.
B. “Private School” by the Arkells drives me completely up the wall. Ugh!
The eponymous Dana O'Hara.

3. If you could only eat foods from one of the five food groups for the rest of your life, which group would you choose?
There’s 5 food groups now? Technically you need protein to survive, as a man trapped on an island lasts longer eating hot dogs than bananas. But I would get so sick of eating Meat and Tofu after a time. So taking logic out of the equation, I choose Vegetables because they’re filling and not very caloric.*
*That or the sixth food group, Candy. 😛
This is what vegetables look like.

4. What’s your favorite scary movie?
Scary movies are my favourite genre. But to pick just one is very tough. I’ve seen Scream more times than I can count, it’s a guilty pleasure. Sleepaway Camp, the original Prom Night, Bride of Chucky, Cabin in the Woods, and Planet Terror are just campy fun. It Follows, the original The Thing, and the Final Destination series are pretty scary. Not to forget the original* Suspiria, which I dub the “loudest horror movie ever. Literally”.
*I just found out they’re doing a sequel-remake! A “sequake” if you will.
An awesome fan-made Scream poster.

5. Which period in history fascinates you the most and why?
I’m not really interested in history. I used to watch Reign because it was so campy and historically-inaccurate, but otherwise I prefer modern, futuristic, or fantasy fiction. If I have to watch something set in the past, I prefer pirates.
It's all about Mary Queen of Scots. Kindof.

6. What’s your favorite thing to do on a night out with your friends?
Typically we’ll either go out and get some dinner and see a movie, or hang out at his place and watch something on TV. It’s not very inventive, but it’s still fun.
Some bored-looking guys watching TV together.

7. If you could marry any fictional character, which would it be and why?
I’m not sure if I believe marriage is a wise step for me. It’s the longest of long-term commitment, and I’m not sure if I am able to live with the same person (fictional or otherwise) for such an extended period of time. But looking past that, I guess maybe Charlie Pace from Lost? He seems like a pretty cool guy.

8. Which Disney princess is/was your favorite? How about the princes?
A. For the princes, I always kindof related to Aladdin for some reason. Since most of the other male leads are either cardboardy or abusive (looking at you Beast), I pick him.
*Side note: the Aladdin OST was the very first compact disc I owned.
B. For princesses, I think growing up my favourite was Ariel but after the magic that is “Let it Go” I gotta go with Elsa.

9. If you could have any animal as a pet, which would you want? What would you name it?
I would really like to own a wolf. Wolves are my spirit animal, so it would be cool to have one as a companion. I suppose the name would depend on what the wolf looks like; something like Quicksilver, Shadow, or Ghost are probably good candidates depending on fur-colour.

10. Do you play board games? If so, which do you have the fondest memories of playing?
I occasionally play board games. When playing family it’s been games like Ticket to Ride, Clue, Labyrinth, or the Game of Life. At work I’ve been able to play Othello, and Chess with the clients. In my personal life I was able to try The Settlers of Catan once but I wasn’t very mercantile.

11. And last but not least, the most important question: Left or right Twix?
I don’t often eat Twix. But when I do, I eat both halves.

6: Which TV series(es) are you watching now and would you recommend it/them?

8: Live forever or live a short life full of happiness?

9: You are walking to the grocery store when you notice a little old lady sitting in the backseat of a parked car. It’s not warm out and the windows are closed. Do you do something?

10: What is the least important topic of discussion? And the most?

11: What’s one thing you want to let your readers know?

Also to my regular readers, life stuff keeps getting in the way but I’m still hoping to finish my monthly post sometime this week. Either Monday or Wednesday night EST.

Theme song of the week: Suspiria – Recut Trailer

I’m Back, Baby!

It was the day before Christmas,

And somewhere in the house,

The blogger tried to come up for,

A word that rhymes with basement..

A Sims 3 Christmas.

A Sims 3 Christmas. (Wolfe family not shown.)

Hey all. Long time no see!  A lot’s happened since my last post.  First my paternal grandmother passed away (very sad), and I went back to school.  Then my maternal grandmother passed away (very sad again), and I got a job as a Personal Support Worker.  It’s my ideal job, in a day program, the clients are very happy and well taken care of, and I get to help the same people every day.  Some of my duties include dressing up as Santa Claus (twice), getting married, and planning St. Patrick’s day.

Internet dating. It's like rolling a dice.

Internet dating. It’s like rolling a dice.

I turned 30.  Also I’ve tried my hand at dating, with really bad and somewhat mixed results.  I think I’m onto my tenth or eleventh person now, fingers crossed.

But you’re not here for the Canadian story of Mister Wolfe, you want some Sims!  I kindof lost interest in the game, had some technical difficulties, and got hooked on some casual games.

But I never deleted my save files and always wanted to finish this challenge.  So I wiped my computer, scrubbed the grime off the save files, and am doing my best to keep it going.  I’ve played about 3 Sim-months from my last post (or 11 Sim-weeks), just to prove my commitment to Sparkle Motion.

Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion

I’m not sure how often I’ll be posting though.  Maybe once a month..  That sounds good right?  I’ll do my best, whatever happens happens.  Okay, byy-bye!

Where did I go?

Hello erstwhile readers!  I’m sorry for the delay in posting.  I know it’s been a while since the last update.  I’ll try to write up something before the new year.

I haven’t been keeping up on my Sims 3 very much recently, so I haven’t had anything to write about.  Don’t misunderstand: I haven’t abandoned my Legacy Challenge.  I just haven’t been playing it very much either.  I like lists, so let’s use them:

1: Upgrading community lots: I got to a point where I wanted to maximize profit from community lots, and that means a lot of building.  I don’t like throwing down 50 of the most expensive objects, because I want the lot to still look normal, so that means actually decorating.  Hard enough to do.  Of course, I’d get into it, forget to save, the game crashes, I’d rage quit for the day, and the plot doesn’t move forward.

2: My game’s getting really slow.  I’ve done most of the cleaning tips, but it’s really boggy.  Even with GameBooster, the FPS is terrible.

Sims 3 is frozen again.

3: School: I haven’t had any luck finding work, so I’m going back to school in January to get a certificate in a related program.  This will/should improve my odds of getting a job.  It’s got to!  But I am terrible at Biology, so I’ve been reading the textbook for the past month.  I’m learning all about the endoplasmic reticulum, and protons, the fontanels, and the …

NEEEEEERD!!!

4: Casual games: I’ve been spending a lot of time on a casual game.  It’s so addictive that I’m not even going to mention the name.  (Let’s just say Disney owns it and leave it at that.)  It’s so silly, but it’s really fun.  I know I should quit and return to TS3 full-time, but it’s really hard to leave.  It’s like injecting crack directly into one’s eyeballs.

Casual games are so addictive!

So, expect to see something in the next 10 days.  *Knock on wood.*
